Module

A Module is a self-contained component of a system, which has a well-defined interface to the other components; something is modular if it includes or uses modules which can be interchanged as units without disassembly of the module. Design, manufacture, repair, etc. of the modules may be complex, but this is not relevant; once the module exists, it can easily be connected to or disconnected from the system. DocFamily uses the term module in two ways:

  1. DocDesign supports the concept of modular template design. This means that a template is constructed from several re-usable modules which are stored in the repository server.
  2. DocFamily supports so called Text-Modules. Text modules are textes which are independent of their usage. Usually, text modules are administered by so called “business users”.
